Karen Harradine, OT/L

Lead Occupational Therapist

I grew up in Upstate New York and received my BS in Biology from Plattsburgh State University.  I learned about Occupational Therapy through volunteer work and  I realized this was the field where I could combine science with creativity and the ability to contribute to the lives of others.  I went back to college and received my BS in Occupational Therapy from Keuka College in 1997.

 

I moved to Wilmington that year and feel grateful to live in such a beautiful and opportune area. I have worked with OT Solutions since 2007 and am proud to be a part of such a talented, caring team of Therapists.  I have two teenage boys and we enjoy doing all kinds of outdoor activities that take advantage of this beautiful coastal region.

Susan Coffey Cypher M.S., CCC-SLP

Lead Speech Therapist

I am originally from Barrington, RI. I graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1996 with a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  I have always worked in Pediatrics and have a special interest in working with children on the Autism Spectrum.

 

I am specially trained in DIR/Floortime, The Hanen Program, TEACCH

 model, and Picture Exchange Communication as well as sign language. I have lived

in Wilmington with my husband Chris for 13 years and enjoy traveling

 and spending time with our 4 children and 2 grand babies. I love outdoor adventures such as hiking, camping and kayaking!

Katie Davis, MS, OTR/L

I was born in Hickory, NC. I came to UNC Wilmington where I earned my bachelors degree in Psychology. I returned to Hickory for my Masters degree at Lenoir-Rhyne University. After meeting my husband who had also previously lived in Wilmington we new if the opportunity to get back was there we wanted it. He got a job transfer in 2009 and we haven't looked back. We have two beautiful children, Kynlee and Fisher, who fill our lives with joy. I have been with OT Solutions since 2009. I love my job and have a passion for children.

 

 I have training in sensory processing, reflex integration, and visual processing. I am certified in SOS feeding therapy, Interactive Metronome, Handwriting without Tears, ALERT Program, and Bloomberg Rhythmic Movement Training

Laurel Davis, COTA/L

 

I am a North Carolina native and have lived in Wilmington for several years. I discovered the OT profession and my passion for it while studying at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Following graduation, I pursued a degree in occupational therapy and graduated in 2013.

I have been a practicing Therapist with OT Solutions . since March of 2014-serving home, clinic, and school settings.

 

Special Practice Areas Include:Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Delay, Sensory Processing Disorders, Epilepsy and Functional Vision Deficits.

 

I have specialized pediatric training in: Interactive Metronome, Sensory Integration, Hand Writing Without Tears and SOS Approach to Feeding

 

My hobbies include: traveling, learning new things, outdoor adventures, spending time with family and her beloved dog Cooper.

Courtney Dickinson, OTR/L

Hi! I am Courtney and I have been at OT Solutions since 2010 when my family and I moved from the Chapel Hill area. We moved to be closer to the beach and we have not regretted it at all! I have 2 energetic and loving little boys and I love spending my free time with my family.

 

We enjoy being outside, going for walks, shopping and being at the beach! I have been a pediatric OT since 2002 and have worked in clinic/outpatient, home health and school based settings. I have a special interest in working with children on the autism spectrum as one of my own children has autism. I have had a lot of extra training in sensory integration over the years and I am SIPT certified.

Elizabeth Gniadek, OT/L

I attended UNCW and graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia with my degree in Occupational Therapy in 1989. I am Southern born and bred. I  returned home to Wilmington nine years ago with my three sons, after living in Asheville and Charleston for 25 years. I have worked in a vast array of OT settings and populations over the years with my time at OT Solutions most recently centered on the provision of school based therapies. I LOVE being a Therapist and a Mom! When not working or Momming.... I enjoy making jewelry, writing poetry, traveling and exploring new places.

Karen Norrin, OTR/L

I grew up in Harper Woods, MI. and lived in Centreville, VA before moving to Carolina Beach, NC in 2014. I am married to Tom and have two sons, Rob and Stephen, and a beagle named Maggie May.

 

I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. I have worked in many settings and have 30 years experience in orthopedics, home health, pediatric and in the

 school setting.

 

My hobbies involve outside activities such as gardening, walking my dog, hiking, kayaking, swimming and boating. I also enjoy arts and crafts and taking exercise classes at the gym. I love spending time with my family

 and friends.

 

Something interesting about me is that I lived for a year in Abu Dhabi, UAE with my husband and son, and after returning to the U.S. became a certified personal trainer serving the Washington, DC area

Jennifer Holmes, OTR/L

I am originally from Southern California, and moved to the Wilmington area in the beginning of 2008. I joined OT Solutions in July 2008 and have serviced clients in the clinic and pre-school setting. I graduated from Loma Linda University in 1999 with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy and have worked in pediatrics since graduating.

 

My special interests include: Autism and Sensory Processing Disorders, CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) related issues, early intervention. I have special pediatric training in: : Sensory Processing, Interactive Metronome Certification, Handwriting Without Tears, Oral Motor Therapy, extensive autism training, and motor learning

Dale Harris, MS, OTR/L

I grew up in Wilmington, NC and moved back in March 2015

 to join OT Solutions.  I graduated from East Carolina University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and then in 2010 with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.  I have always had an interest in working with pediatrics and helping children

 become successful in their environments.  My special practice interests include Sensory processing, Autism Processing Disorder, and school services.  I have had specialised pediatric training in Handwriting Without Tears, The ALERT Program, and Functional

 School Interventions.

 

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, reading, visiting new restaurants with friends, the beach, and hanging out with my dog Remi.

Kelly Linville, COTA/L

I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and moved to Wilmington in 2003 to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a Spanish language minor in 2007. After working for 3 years in the home/community setting with children with Autism and Cerebral Palsy,

 

I decided to return to school and received my Associate of Applied Science degree in Occupational Therapy at Cape Fear Community College in 2012. Since graduating, I have worked in the school setting as a COTA for the past 4 years and have enjoyed working with children of all ages in the areas of sensory integration, handwriting, motor skill development, and others.

 

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, yoga, reading, and traveling. I am very excited to join OT Solutions and look forward to working with children and their families to be successful in reaching their goals.

 

Erin Liuzzo, OTR/L

I grew up in Cary, NC and graduated from Virginia Tech

 in 2011 with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and then graduated from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in December 2013 with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy.

 

My special Practice Interests include: Sensory integration, early intervention, and children with Autism. I have Specialized Pediatric training in: Handwriting Without Tears, Sensory Processing Disorder, Reflex Integration, Rhythmic Movement Training, and Early Intervention

Alicia P. Mercer, COTA/L

 

I have had the wonderful opportunity to work as a COTA/L for 25 plus years with a majority of those years specializing in pediatrics for a majority of those years. I have been married for 29 years and have three adult children. I recently moved to Wilmington from Wake Forest but am originally from Boston, MA. I feel blessed to have been hired by OT Solutions and am grateful to be able to offer help, encouragement, hope and opportunities for change/progress in meeting each child’s goals.

 

I absolutely love the challenge of discovering each child’s potential and then working with parents and caregivers to provide the” tools” that they need to further assist in obtaining the goals that are initially identified. No one child is the same and I strive to provide services that meet each of their needs.

Kristen Merritt, COTA/L

I have lived in Rose Hill, NC since birth and currently reside in the small town with my husband and two beautiful girls. I am a 2009 graduate of CFCC's OTA program. I have been working with OT Solutions since 2010, where I provide OT related services in Duplin County Schools, which is also the county that I reside in. I love being able to give back to the children in my own community through providing OT services with our company.

I enjoy spending as much time with my family whether home, local beach, pool time, but we especially love all things Disney! I spend a great amount of time being involved with my church and giving back to the community through various opportunities.

Destiny Newsome, COTA/L

I am  a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and licensed as an Occupational Therapy Practitioner in the State of North Carolina.  I received my Associate of Applied Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 2014 from Cape Fear Community College and have over two years of pediatric experience. During that time, I have treated multiple diagnoses including autism, ADHD, SPD,and developmental delay.  I am also knowledgeable regarding various treatment modalities, including the Wilbarger Brushing Protocol, the ALERT program, Brain Gym, and Zones of Regulation.

 

I am  a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and World Federation of Occupational Therapy.  I completed  fieldwork in Kampala, Uganda at a boarding school for children with disabilities where my caseload consisted of 141 children with a variety of treatment needs most commonly cerebral palsy, spina bifida, down syndrome, learning disabilities, and many deformities. I have  continued  work there by providing medical supplies and education to their therapy department and  visits to provide therapy and instruct local staff on upcoming techniques. I am a well rounded therapist who brings many creative ways to engage children in activities to improve handwriting, dressing, sensory integration, gross and fine motor skills.

 

 

Kimberly Nunn,MS, CCC-SLP

I attended North Carolina State University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders. I then went to East Carolina University to obtain my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. I have worked exclusively in pediatrics in a variety of settings including schools, preschools, home health, inpatient hospitals, and outpatient clinics since 2005.

 

I am certified in Orton-Gillingham Multi-Sensory Methodology for written language difficulties, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) for children with limited verbal skills, and Talk Tools for providing a sensory motor approach to feeding. In addition, I have had extensive training by Nancy Kaufman in childhood apraxia of speech as well as in pediatric oral motor and feeding disorders. I have expertise in evaluating and treating children with a variety of diagnoses including autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, developmental delay, articulation/phonological disorders, receptive/expressive language disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency disorders, and oral motor/feeding/swallowing disorders.

Brianne Race, COTA/L

Bri is originally from Pennsylvania. She moved to San Diego, California after graduating from Penn State University. It was there, while working at a school for children with autism, she discovered the profession of OT.

 

After moving to Wilmington, she then attended the OTA program at Cape Fear Community College graduating in May 2011. She joined OT Solutions in October 2011. She has spent the past five years providing therapy in home, clinic, and specializing in school-based therapy.

 

Special practice interests include: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Sensory processing disorders, and Developmental Delays

She has specialized pediatric training in: DTT and ABA Therapy, PECS, Sensory Processing, ALERT Program, and Handwriting Without Tears

Her hobbies include: Traveling with her husband, hiking, biking, dancing, reading, writing, listening to music, going to the beach, playing with her 3 fur babies and 2 year old son, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Epiphany Stephens, MOT, OTR/L

I am from Durham, NC. After living in Atlanta and Pittsburgh, I moved to Wilmington to be closer to family and friends.

 

My special interests include autism spectrum along with preschool and school age children.

 

I have specialized pediatric training in a level II student, I learned and followed the SOS Approach to Feeding and Handwriting Without Tears protocols. I also completed an international fieldwork experience in Ibarra, Ecuador where I provided OT services to pediatric patients.

 

My hobbies include enjoy spending time with family and friends, boating, traveling, and being active in the Greek Orthodox community.

Ashley Taylor, OTR/L

Stating that I love to travel would only be an understatement! I was born and raised in Rhode Island; Completed my bachelors degree at Worcester State University and Masters of Occupational Therapy at Bay Path University in Massachusetts; Moved and started my career with pediatrics and adults in San Antonio, Texas for a change of scenery for two years. It wasn't long before I realized I could never be too far from the ocean and settled with my husband here

 

 in Wilmington, NC which we both love! My hobbies include reading, movies, arts, games, and DIY.

Maggie Thompson, MOTR/L

I am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I graduated from LSU and lived in Austin, Texas for two years after graduate school. I moved to Wilmington in 2014, and I love it here! I am married and have two cats and a dog.

 

I enjoy playing games, seeing beautiful scenery, skiing, bike riding, and trying new types of food. I am passionate about helping children succeed and empowering families with tools and knowledge to help their children flourish.

Melissa N. Wickham,MSOS, OTR/L

I grew up in Greenville, SC and moved to Wilmington in July 2009 to join OT Solutions. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in 2004 and taught for two years as a special education teacher in a North Carolina middle school. I was introduced

 to occupational therapy in the public school system and went back to school to become an OT. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in August 2008 with a Masters in Occupational Science. We live at the beach with our labradoodle,

 Maggie.

I am originally from Wilmington, NC. and now live in Leland, NC with my husband William, and son Garrett. I graduated from UNC - Wilmington in 2002 with a B.S. in Social Work. As a social worker, I gained valuable work experience with our local pediatric community through the school systems, then through my direct work with at-risk youth in residential group homes.

I joined OT Solutions in 2003 and now lead the team as the General Manager, overseeing day to day operations, client and staff needs, and serving as community liaison. My goal is to respond to the needs of our community by providing our patients and their families with innovative, effective occupational and speech therapy services that result in superior customer

 satisfaction!

Sonia Cardoso

I am originally from Los Angeles, California ,and moved to Carolina Beach, NC in 2008. I have nearly 30 years customer service experience in the Healthcare Industry. I joined OT Solutions in 2012 as Receptionist and now as Administration and Billing Manager . I also provide translation assistance for our Spanish speaking families.

 

I enjoy the camaraderie of my coworkers, as well as watching our clients transform their lives. My hobbies include, the beach, gardening and spending time with family and my three cats Jasper, Jab and Petunia.

Stephen Hay

President

I was born in Australia and gained my Doctor Dental Surgery at Sydney University. I then practiced in London , Sydney and Jersey in the Channel Islands before retiring. I also have an interest in a finance company based in the Isle of Man UK.

My wife and I visited Wilmington in 2015 and immediately loved it . We returned 2016 to take over OT Solutions and are amazed at the wonderful work our Therapists do with your children.

Robert Hay

I was born in Australia then moved to Jersey in the Channel Islands off the coast of France. I attended school in the U.K. then college in Les Roches Switzerland where I studied hotel management.  After graduation I worked for Hilton Hotel group, north Scotland. For the last 6 years I have been living and working in Australia. I am really looking forward to this new, exciting and inspiring chapter of my life.

My favorite pastimes are tennis and snow skiing.
