Our Therapists

Karen Harradine, OT/L

Lead Occupational Therapist

I grew up in Upstate New York and received my BS in Biology from Plattsburgh State University.  I learned about Occupational Therapy through volunteer work and  I realized this was the field where I could combine science with creativity and the ability to contribute to the lives of others.  I went back to college and received my BS in Occupational Therapy from Keuka College in 1997.

I moved to Wilmington that year and feel grateful to live in such a beautiful and opportune area. I have worked with OT Solutions since 2007 and am proud to be a part of such a talented, caring team of Therapists.  I have two teenage boys and we enjoy doing all kinds of outdoor activities that take advantage of this beautiful coastal region.

My favorite quote: “Enjoy the little things in life for one day you will look back and realize they were the big things”- Kurt Vonnegut

I am originally from Barrington, RI. I graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1996 with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  I have always worked in Pediatrics and have a special interest in working with children on the Autism Spectrum.

I am specially trained in DIR/Floortime, The Hanen Program, TEACCH model, and Picture Exchange Communication as well as sign language. I have lived in Wilmington with my husband Chris for 13 years and enjoy traveling and spending time with our 4 children and 2 grand babies. I love outdoor adventures such as hiking, camping and kayaking!

I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) and bilingually trained Speech-Language Pathologist, originally from Dunmore, PA. My Bachelor of Science degree is from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where I majored in Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology and completed extensive coursework in Spanish Language. I studied abroad in Spain during my undergraduate career, and discovered my love for traveling and learning about/working with individuals from a variety of cultures during my time there. I earned my Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, TX.  At TCU, I was trained in the non-biased assessment and treatment for culturally and linguistically diverse populations, while participating in the Emphasis in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology Master’s program track.

My clinical experiences have been working with monolingual and bilingual pediatric through geriatric populations in the school, private clinic, skilled nursing, and medical settings.  The past few years of my career have been dedicated to working in Delaware with bilingual children with Developmental Delays and Autism.  I have specific training in Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), the Early Start Denver Model for Young Children with Autism (ESDM), and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2).

I was born and raised here in Wilmington, which I have loved to call my coastal home for the past 22 years. I graduated from Cape Fear Community College with my Associate’s degree in Applied Science of Occupational Therapy. My previous history working with kids through summer camps, babysitting, and being a private nanny naturally validated my interests toward pediatrics as I enjoy all the challenges, playful energy, and joy they can bring. Throughout the wonderful learning experiences provided by Cape Fear, I was able to gain many valuable skills to apply within the therapy world that further fostered my passion for contributing to the lives of children and their families.

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, whether that consists of hiking in my favorite parts of the NC mountains, going to the beach, biking, walking, or trail running. Having played soccer for most of my life, I also love a good competition and using my athleticism through sports. In addition, I enjoy spending time with my family, raising backyard chickens, expanding my knowledge on OT, and being creative through art and photography.
I am excited to be a part of OT Solutions and to contribute to their mission by providing exceptional therapy services unique to each child’s personal traits and capabilities for not only expanding their opportunities for growth, but for reaching their highest level of potential possible.
